Objective:

Clouds move swiftly, in a moment rain pours down. Farmers can then cultivate their land, which brings harvest. Rain is a gift from Heaven, a blessing bestowed by Nature. If we truly respect Nature, become simple and modest in our way of living, we can lead a peaceful and happy life, and our future generations can also heartily enjoy the resources of our earth.

This contest aims to, through art, draw our attention to the importance of revering Nature and leading a simpler life.

Artist Wang Shou Qing:

Wong Shou Ching, a renowned local artist, was born in the year of 1954 in Fujian. He grew up in the countryside, and has been a lover of Nature ever since. In 1989, he went to London to study in the Wimbeldon College of Art, where he developed, refined, and mastered his artistic skills and knowledge. Currently residing in Hong Kong, Wong paints everyday and exhibits often. He paints exemplarily in both western oil medium as well as Chinese ink and brush. Wong loves the means of expression in the west and the profound artistic conception in Chinese culture. His paintings reveal his inner feelings.

Artist Joseph Lee:

Joseph Lee studied mathematics, then worked in the education field for over twenty years before becoming a professional artist. He is an accomplished painter who also writes poems. He has exhibited both in Hong Kong and overseas. Lee believes that “it is really a blessing to be able to grow up and be educated in Hong Kong. One can access easily both worlds, eastern and western, and the climate does encourage one to take freely and abundantly from both.” Lee’s painting expresses his thoughts and quests in life. His paintings explores Nature and its relation with Man.
